Sweet Rice

This simple and sweet rice dish makes a perfect snack or side for lunch or dinner! Naturally vegetarian, it combines whole grain brown rice with buttery, toasted walnuts, celery, onion and raisins. Then, it’s all drizzled in a honey dressing for a hint of that great holiday stuffing flavor.

Serve this as a meat-free side dish, or mix in a bit of extra protein, like cooked chickpeas or shredded chicken.

Using our convenient Boil-in-Bag Success® Brown Rice, you can prepare whole grains to toss into this quick salad in just 10 minutes! To add more flavor to your meal, try cooking the rice in vegetable broth or, for a sweeter touch, in some fruit juice mixed with water.

Fruit and Nuts

When looking for ingredients that will add delectable crunch to your meals, nuts are always a good choice. When paired with fresh or dried fruit, such as raisins, they add a delicious bite. As their name suggests, nuts add nutty flavor and meaty texture to any dish, while fruit tends to be crisp, soft and sweet. Try this combo for yourself in savory recipes like a Waldorf Brown Rice Salad or our internationally-inspired Jeweled Rice. You can also use nuts and fruit to make a delicious and filling breakfast, such as our Apple Cinnamon Quinoa Breakfast Bowl.
