Ingredients

  • 2 bags Success® Basmati Rice
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 jalapeño pepper, sliced
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 2 tbsp curry powder
  • 1 1/2 (2 inch) cinnamon stick
  • 1 lb boneless beef sirloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth, divided
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp green onions, sliced (optional)

Instructions

  • Spice up your week with a meal that’s bold and satisfying, but easy to prepare! Simply omit the jalapeño if you want to dial down the heat.

  • Step 1: Prepare rice according to package directions.

  • Step 2: Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add onion; cook and stir until the onion has softened, about 5 minutes. Stir in the garlic, jalapeño pepper, ginger paste, curry powder and cinnamon sticks for 3 minutes.

  • Step 3: Add beef and 1 cup broth. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and cook 12 minutes, or until beef is cooked through and onions are tender and brown.

  • Step 4: Combine the remaining broth, cornstarch, and salt.  Increase heat to high and stir in cornstarch mixture.  Bring to a boil, stirring constantly.  Cook for 1 minute.

  • Step 5: Serve over rice. Garnish with green onion, if desired.

Recipe Tips

Substitute the jalapeño with 5 Thai chiles or 2 serrano chiles.
