Creamy French Onion Pearl Couscous

Ingredients

  • 1 bag of Success Boil-in-Bag Pearl Couscous
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 2 sprig thyme
  • 1 tbsp garlic
  • 1 bay leaf
  • ¼ cup white wine
  • ¼ cup vegetable broth (or beef broth)
  • ¼ cup half and half
  • ¼ cup gruyere cheese, shredded
  • Sliced baguette to garnish

Instructions

    1. Add butter and olive oil to a pan. Once melted, add in your onions. Let these cook on medium heat for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently. Add salt and black pepper per taste.
    2. In the meantime, boil your couscous according to package instructions. Once it’s done, set it aside.
    3. When onions are almost caramelized, add in the thyme, garlic, and bay leaf. Mix well.
    4. Add white wine to deglaze the pan and remove all brown bits. When the wine is absorbed, add vegetable broth followed by the half and half.
    5. Add in the gruyere cheese and mix
    6. Add in the contents of your couscous bag into the sauce and mix well.
    7. Top off with a toasted slice of baguette and enjoy!
